Heading to Byron Bay on a Winter holiday with the family during the school holidays? We’ve put together our  10 Ultimate Byron Bay school holiday activities around for your kids (and you!) to enjoy while you are here.

1. FISH, SWIM, SURF, PLAY – BYRON HOLIDAY PARK

The entire family will have so much to see, do and experience without having to leave when you stay with us at Byron Holiday Park. Situated on 28 acres of picturesque parkland alongside Tallow Beach, a dog friendly Byron Bay beach where the kids can build sandcastles, body surf or enjoy the best Byron Beach fishing spot.  Our family friendly Park features a games room, an awesome pool, play equipment and bike hire where the kids can make new friends while playing in a safe and fun environment. We offer Byron Bay dog friendly camping in Byron Bay, so there’s no need to leave your best mate at home and if you prefer a little luxury most of our cabins offer dog friendly Byron Bay accommodation.

 2. FARM KIDS BYRON BAY

18-minute drive from Byron Holiday Park

 A visit to “The Farm” Byron Bay offers a great day out for all the family where you can enjoy guided farm tours, experience the operations of a working farm, meet adorable farm animals and enjoy educational horseback tours with Zephyr Horses.

The Farm Kids program is run throughout the 2019 summer school holidays offering a series of kid’s workshops with a hands on approach where they are encouraged to learn, explore and enjoy a real working farm.   Farm Kids programs include Farm Kids Cows Workshop, Farm Kids Veggies Workshop, Farm Kids Beneficial Bugs Workshop, Farm Kids Pigs Workshop, Farm Kids Bee Workshop, Farm Kids Chickens Workshop, Farm Kids Flowers Workshop and a Mini Farmers Program.

3. MACADAMIA CASTLE  

15-minute drive from Byron Holiday Park

 The Macadamia Castle, offers a fun-filled day for the entire family.  Take part in a daily program of interactive activities at the Animal Fun and Adventure Park, try your luck at the 18 hole mini-golf course (included in the entry fee), take a ride on the train or have fun in the playground.

The kids will love the Macadamia Castle School Holiday Program where they can enjoy free face painting, story time and craft sessions and for something more educational,  they can spend a day behind the scenes as they become a Wildlife Guardian (7-12 years)  or a Keeper for a day (12-18 years).

4. BRIGHT LIGHTS PERFORMANCE ARTS

2-minute drive (13-minute walk) from Byron Holiday Park

 If your child likes the bright lights, enrolling them into the Byron Bay 4-day Bright Lights holiday workshop during the July school holidays will have them dancing, singing and acting and performing for the entire family on the last day of the workshop.  The aim of the workshop is for the children to have fun, be creative and to improve their focus and concentration and advance their skills in acting, singing and dancing.  Bookings are essential!

 5. BYRON BAY SKATEBOARD SCHOOL

20-minute drive from Byron Holiday Park

 The kids can take part in two different Skateboarding programs during the summer school holidays with the experienced team from Byron Bay Skateboard School.  The Bryon Bay School Holiday programs offer the opportunity for kids aged 7 to 12 years old, (from beginner to advanced levels) to improve their skateboarding skills, make new friends and have a lot of fun.

  • The Warehouse Day Camp is a half day tour which will see the kids learn or improve their skateboarding skills in a fun day camp environment.
  • The Skatepark Tour is a full day tour where the kids (of all abilities) can join the team on a tour around the best skateparks in the area including Lennox Head, Ballina, Evans Head, Goonellabah, Nimbin, Bangalow and the Gold Coast.

 

6. JOIN THE CIRCUS – SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM

19-minute drive from Byron Holiday Park

 A great way to give the kids a holiday experience that they will never forget is to book them in to a holiday program at Circus Arts Byron Bay!   Located a short 4 minutes from the centre of Byron Bay, and affordable pricing from as little as $8, they offer full day and half day Byron school holiday activities, for all ages including:

  • Kinder Circus (1-4 years)
  • Flying Trapeze (5 years and over).
  • Kids Program of Circus and Flying fun (ages 5-15 years).
  • Teens Program (12 – 16 years)
  • Climbing Wall (4 years and over)
  • Play Space (1-10 years)

Monday to Friday they offer free workshops between 1pm – 1:30pm learning how to twist balloon animals, flowers, swords and more!

7. EXPLORE THE BRUNSWICK FAIRY TRAIL

25-minute drive from Byron Holiday Park

 Travelling along the Brunswick Fairy trail is a magical way to explore the seaside village of Brunswick heads.  There are thirty hidden fairy houses to find along the way, which are kept well maintained by fairies and pixies under the guidance of the fairy godmother.  You can get an updated copy of the clues from the Brunswick Heads Visitor Information Centre when you arrive or download it HERE.

8. DOLPHIN KAYAKING

7-minute drive from Byron Holiday Park

Accommodating children from the age of 5, Dolphin Kayaking is the ideal activity for viewing Byron Bay from a different perspective.  Go Sea Kayak Byron Bay offers 3-hour Dolphin Kayaking tours paddling in the famous Cape Byron Marine Park where dolphins, turtles and whales roam free.   Dolphins, Turtles, Manta Rays and tropical fish can be spotted year-round and from June to November you may have the opportunity to spot whales.   Better yet they also offer a guarantee that if you don’t see any Dolphins or Turtles during your kayak you can book another tour for FREE.

 9. LEARN TO SURF

9-minute drive from Byron Holiday Park

 Byron Bay is one of the most famous and bucket list destinations in the world to surf and if the kids have been begging to try their hand at surfing for the first time there are plenty of beaches to like  Byron Bay’s Main Beach and Clarkes Beach offering ideal surf conditions for beginner’s.   There are plenty of learn to surf school in the Bryon region to choose from like Kool Katz Surf School and Byron Bay Surf School catering for children as young as 6 years old so all the family can give it a go!

10. EXPLORE THE BYRON BAY MARKETS

6-minute drive from Byron Holiday Park

 The Byron Bay region is home to a large array of farmers markets where you can have an amazing breakfast and organic coffee while picking up some fresh produce.  Browse through the treasure troves of the Artisan and community markets dotted around the region to pick up a holiday memento or purchase clothing, jewelry or homewares that are uniquely designed.
